As of 2020, there are 107 Historically Black College and Universities in the United States that are identified by the United States Department of Education. HBCU’s are institutions of education higher than high school level in the United States. These colleges and universities were established before the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Sample HBCU Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival on the East Coast
Prepare to depart with your group to the Nation’s Capital, Washington, DC or Baltimore, Maryland by motorcoach, train or plane. Meet your Landmark Tour Manager and begin your tour! Begin with a guided licensed walking tour of the Lincoln, Korean War, Vietnam War, World War II memorials and Washington Monument. Next, enjoy a sit down group dinner before heading to night one’s hotel accommodations.
Day 2: DC Sightseeing
After enjoying a hotel breakfast, the group departs for Capitol Hill! Visit and Tour the United States Capitol Building. Pro Tip: Request a meet and greet with your state representative or senators! Next on the itinerary, lunch. After lunch, small groups separate to explore their groups preferred Smithsonian Museum. Meet your Landmark Tour Manager for a group photo at the White House (from Lafayette Park). Once the group has worked up an appetite, it’s time for a sit-down dinner. Before heading back to the hotel, the group enjoys a guided licensed walking tour of the Tidal Basin memorials: TJ, FDR and MLK.
Day 3: Bowie State + Howard University
After breakfast at the hotel, the group departs for a campus tour of Bowie State University. Landmark Educational Tours works with the trip organizer and representative from each college to provide a campus tour, admission session, and bookstore stop. After the university visit, lunch is provided. The group meets the motorcoach and transfers to Howard University. A group tour, admission session, and bookstore stop are also provided. The remaining of the day consists of a visit to the Smithsonian Museums, White House Picture Stop and driving down embassy row to dinner!
Day 4: Virginia State + Norfolk University
Breakfast is provided at the hotel before loading luggage and departing. On day four, the group is off two and a half hours south to Virginia State University. After visiting Virginia State University and eating lunch, the group headed to Norfolk University. Dinner and an evening activity are scheduled before departing for hotel accommodations nearby.
Day 5: Hampton University + University of
Maryland Eastern Shore
On day five, the group wakes up and enjoys a hotel breakfast before departing to Hampton University. After the first university and lunch, the group departs for their next stop, University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Dinner is provided before a two hour drive to the next city on the itinerary.
Day 6: Delaware State + Coppin State University
Last full day of campus visits! The first stop includes a tour of Delaware State University and lunch before heading to Coppin State University.
Pro Tip: Request for your group to enjoy a night of bowling and pizza dinner!
Day 7: Morgan State University + Departure
After breakfast this morning you will check out of your hotel and load your luggage up. The last university on this tour stops at Morgan State University. The day attraction can be customized by the group leader before preparing for the final “Farewell!” to their HBCU Campus Tour trip! Pro Tip: Request to visit the National Great Blacks In Wax Museum in Baltimore!
